2026-27 application cycle

Every deadline, every kid, one place.

CollegeTrack fills the dates in for you, straight from the official Common App Requirements Grid for the 2026-27 cycle and all 1,074 schools in it. One parent login covers every kid you are tracking. Each student gets a login of their own.

Free during the 2026-27 cycle. No school code and no counselor approval required.

The parent view

One screen for the next seven days, across all of them.

Per-kid columns, real progress on each application, and whatever lands this week pulled to the top. Amber inside a week. Red inside three days.

The CollegeTrack parent dashboard: an upcoming-7-days strip above one column per student, each listing that student's applications with progress bars and deadline dates.
01

Every kid in a column

The dashboard gives each student a column and runs a seven-day strip across the top that mixes all of them together. A junior and a senior on the same page. The progress bars count requirements actually finished, not schools added to a list.

Search 1,074 schools, see the real dates

Type a name. The result says whether the school takes the Common App, what the application fee is, and every plan it publishes with the date attached. Amherst ED closes November 9, 2026. Harvard REA closes November 1. Pick a plan and the deadline fills itself in.

The checklist writes itself

Start an application and the requirements appear from that school's grid entry: personal essay, however many teacher evaluations the school wants, counselor recommendation, midyear report, the fee. Transcript, test scores, FAFSA and the CSS Profile sit alongside them. Every item carries a status, a due date and an owner, so a recommendation waiting on a teacher never looks like an essay waiting on your kid.

An application detail screen listing requirements such as the personal essay, portfolio, application fee, official transcript and SAT/ACT scores, each with a status, an owner and a due date.

Reminders that arrive before it is late

Email at 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days out from every deadline, and one digest at 7 AM with what is coming. Quiet hours, once you set them, keep anything from landing at 11 PM. Text messages are planned for the next release; they ship once the carrier registration clears.

Guardrails on the rules that bite

A student can hold one Early Decision application, and CollegeTrack says so before the second one is filed. Restrictive Early Action carries its own conflicts. The Common App caps a student at 20 schools. These are warnings rather than locks, and every one can be overridden.

EDEDElla already holds an Early Decision application.Override the warning, or move this school to RD.
06

Two parents, and the kid

Invite a second parent into the same family. Divorced households were the first case we designed for. Students sign in as themselves and manage their own list, and a parent can create the student record first so the teen claims it later from an invite email.

Getting started

Three steps, about ten minutes.

  1. 1. Create the family

Sign up, name the family, and you are in. Nothing to verify with a high school.

  2. 2. Add your students

A name and a graduating class for each. Send the invite email whenever you are ready, or sit on it.

  3. 3. Add schools, pick a plan

Search, add to the list, choose ED, EA, REA or RD. The deadline and the checklist come with it.

Where the dates come from

Common App publishes a Requirements Grid and updates it through the cycle. The copy behind every date on your dashboard was published August 28, 2026 for 2026-27, and it covers 1,074 schools. Schools do move dates after that. Every deadline here is editable, and you should verify it in each school's own portal before you count on it.

Questions

The ones parents ask first.

What does it cost?

Free during the 2026-27 cycle. If that changes for the next one, you will hear it from us long before this cycle ends.

Where do the deadlines come from?

The official Common App Requirements Grid, updated August 28, 2026, covering 1,074 schools. Anything outside the grid you can add by hand with your own deadline.

Half my kid’s schools are not on the Common App.

Add those as custom schools. UC, CSU, ApplyTexas and direct institutional applications each take a name, a deadline, and whatever checklist items you want sitting under them.

Does my student need an account?

No. A parent can create a student record and track the whole thing alone. When the student does sign up, they claim that record from the invite email and carry on with their own list.

Do you send text messages?

Not yet. Email is live today: reminders at 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days, plus the 7 AM digest. SMS ships once the carrier registration clears.

The early deadlines land in November. Start the list.

Create a parent account, add your kids, add a few schools. The dates and the checklists show up on their own after that.
